The Racing Edge iPhone and Android apps
How Racing Edge for iPhone and Android handles your information and the choices you have.
Last updated
Racing Edge provides Australian racing information for adults aged 18 and over. The app is free, requires no account, and does not accept bets, payments or deposits.
The iPhone sections describe version 1.0 build 30. The Android section describes version 1.0 (1). Hosting logs, the website visitor counter, support correspondence and privacy-request verification apply to both platforms as explained below.
The following iPhone sections retain the information for build 30. Android-specific choices are described in the Android section.
The app stores saved race identifiers, a downloaded feed and app preferences locally. Optional alerts also store your choice, any pending switch-off status and a limited list of notification event identifiers used to avoid duplicate alerts. Earlier notification preferences may remain after an upgrade; they do not opt you into the new public-tip alerts.
Your saved-race list and race choices are not uploaded to an account, an analytics service or the notification service. To remove saved races and the downloaded feed, open Settings → Manage local storage → Clear saved races and offline copy. This does not erase notification-provider records, browser history or support correspondence.
The app requests the public Racing Edge feed and, when supplied in the feed, runner-silk images from our website. Our Sites/Cloudflare hosting retains technical request logs, including IP addresses, country information, request metadata and processing timings. These operational records are separate from the website visitor counter below. We do not promise immediate disposal or a fixed deletion deadline for hosting-provider records.
The app does not send your saved-race list with these requests and does not request location or contacts access.
New tip alerts use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service. They cover newly published public tips; final changes and results are not included.
On a fresh installation, the alert feature remains off until you choose to enable it and allow iPhone notifications. An existing explicit opt-in can be restored when you reopen the app. A pending switch-off can also contact the providers to finish removal.
When you enable alerts, the providers process notification and app-installation identifiers, connection information, the public-topic subscription, and limited app, device and SDK configuration or diagnostic information. These identifiers allow a message to reach this app installation. The registration includes the Apple push address, app version, bundle identifier, delivery environment and Firebase SDK version. Firebase also receives SDK heartbeat metadata through its installations service.
Racing Edge has no sign-in and does not upload a saved-race list or race-selection profile for notifications. It does not include Firebase Analytics, advertising or an app-level behavioural analytics integration. Limited provider diagnostics and SDK usage analysis still occur.
If you use “Copy notification test ID”, the app puts the identifier on this iPhone’s clipboard for two minutes. Copying does not send it. Share it only with trusted support when needed for an installation-specific test; do not post it publicly.
Turn off New tip alerts in the app’s Settings. The app immediately suppresses banners it handles and requests removal from the public topic, followed by messaging deregistration. Check the status beneath the switch: a network problem can leave remote removal pending. A notification already queued by Apple may still arrive.
Messaging deregistration is not a request to erase every Firebase installation record or provider log. This build does not perform Firebase’s separate installation-deletion operation. Uninstalling the app or clearing saved races also does not confirm remote deletion. Provider records are handled under the providers’ retention and deletion policies; no automatic deletion deadline is promised here.
Google’s Firebase privacy information describes its processing, retention and international infrastructure. Firebase processing may occur outside Australia. Its installation-management documentation explains the separate installation-deletion process. Apple’s services are covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
Email info@mattywhite.com.au for help or a privacy request. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include, and use it to handle your request. Send only the details needed for support. Do not send passwords, Apple Account details or payment information. Only share a notification test ID with trusted support when specifically needed for that test.
You may ask about access to or deletion of information associated with your request. What we can locate or remove depends on the records involved and our ability to verify the request. Turning alerts off is available in the app without contacting support.
The website counts visible page loads and approximate daily browsers using a random, first-party cookie that expires at midnight Brisbane time. Its analytics database stores day-specific hashes and daily totals. Direct app-feed requests, background polls and assets are excluded from this visitor counter. Opening this privacy page or the support page in a browser may be counted.
The visitor counter does not store raw IP addresses, page addresses, referrers, searches or form values. Day-specific hashes and daily totals become eligible for cleanup on rolling windows; cleanup runs when new counts or owner reports trigger it, so inactivity or a backlog can extend retention. These visitor-counter limits do not apply to the separate operational hosting logs described above.
Use “Website visitor counts & privacy” in the website footer for the counter’s retention details and browser opt-out. The counter respects Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. Opting out applies to that browser and site and does not remove existing aggregate totals or stop operational hosting logs.

The Android app provides racing information for adults aged 18 and over. It requires no account and does not accept bets, payments or deposits.
Saved race identifiers, a downloaded public feed and preferences are stored locally. Alert choices, pending removal status and bounded notification event-ID journals are also stored locally. Saved race lists and race-choice profiles are not uploaded.
In Settings, “Clear saved races and offline feed” removes the local bookmarks and downloaded feed. It does not erase notification-provider records, alert preferences or support correspondence. App cloud backup is disabled.
Refreshing requests the public Racing Edge feed over HTTPS. The website host receives ordinary connection information, including IP addresses, and may retain operational logs. The hosting-log information on this page applies to these requests. The website visitor-counter information applies when you open website pages; direct app-feed requests are excluded from that counter.
No fixed provider-log deletion deadline is promised.
Alerts use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. On a fresh installation, the app does not initialize Firebase or subscribe for alerts until you affirmatively enable the feature and grant Android notification permission where required. An existing explicit choice can be restored. Pending removal can contact the provider to finish switching alerts off.
Firebase processes notification and installation identifiers, connection information and limited app, device, configuration and SDK metadata needed by its services. The app does not include Firebase Analytics or advertising, upload a saved-race list or race-choice profile, or enable BigQuery delivery-metric export.
Firebase processing may occur outside Australia. See Google’s Firebase privacy information for its processing and international infrastructure.
Turning off “New tip alerts” immediately suppresses notifications handled by the app and requests public-topic removal followed by messaging deregistration. Network problems may leave removal pending; a message may already be in transit.
This is not deletion of every Firebase installation record or provider log. The Android app does not invoke Firebase’s separate installation-deletion operation. Uninstalling or clearing saved races does not confirm remote deletion. Provider retention and deletion follow the providers’ policies; no automatic deadline is promised.
Email info@mattywhite.com.au for help or privacy requests. The support-correspondence and request-verification information on this page applies to Android users too. Do not send passwords or payment information.
