The Racing Edge iPhone and Android apps
Help with Racing Edge for iPhone and Android, saved races and optional new-tip alerts.
Last updated
Racing Edge is a free Australian racing-information app for adults aged 18 and over. No account is required. It does not accept bets, payments or deposits. WIN records are hypothetical performance records.
The following iPhone instructions describe build 30. Android instructions follow in their own section. Website visitor counts, hosting logs and support correspondence are explained in the shared privacy policy.
Email info@mattywhite.com.au. Include what you were trying to do, what happened, the app version shown in Settings, and the relevant date, meeting or race. If useful, include a screenshot with private information removed. Do not send passwords, Apple Account details or payment information. Only share a notification test ID with trusted support when specifically needed for that test.
Pull down on Tips, Results or WIN to refresh. Check the feed status and timestamps before relying on a saved copy. If refreshing fails, check your connection and try again when connected; previously downloaded information may still be displayed.
Settings → Feed status and coverage provides additional feed information. A missing update or image does not by itself mean that your installation is broken. Runner-silk images appear only when suitable image information is supplied and the image can be loaded; otherwise the app shows a runner-number fallback.
Version 1.0 (30) has one optional switch: New tip alerts. It sends notifications for newly published public tips. It does not offer separate final-change or result-alert categories.
To enable alerts:
The switch records your choice; the status confirms whether connection has succeeded. Delivery can be delayed or unavailable and is not guaranteed. The app remains usable with alerts off.
If you want alerts on but connection fails, use “Retry alert connection” and review the enable-consent screen. If iPhone permission is blocked, use the app’s “Open iPhone notification settings” link to review permission, then return to Racing Edge.
Turn off New tip alerts in the app. This requests topic removal and messaging deregistration. There is no separate registration-removal control in this build.
If the status says remote switch-off is pending or unconfirmed, leave the switch off, restore your connection, and bring Racing Edge back to the foreground. The app retries pending removal when it becomes active. If the status remains unresolved, contact support with the status text. “Agree and enable new tip alerts” opts back in; it is not a deletion confirmation.
A notification already queued by Apple may still arrive. Disabling iPhone notification permission controls presentation but does not confirm remote data removal. Clearing local data or uninstalling the app also does not confirm deletion of provider records.
While alerts are active, Settings → How tip alerts work → Notification support offers “Copy notification test ID”. Use this only when trusted support needs an installation-specific notification test. Copying does not send a notification or automatically send the identifier to support. The clipboard copy is local to this iPhone and expires after two minutes. Do not post the identifier publicly.
Saved race identifiers and the downloaded feed stay on this iPhone; they do not sync to an account. To remove them, open Settings → Manage local storage → Clear saved races and offline copy, then confirm Clear local data. This does not erase browser history, provider records or support correspondence. Earlier notification preferences can remain after an upgrade and do not opt you into new-tip alerts.
Optional alerts involve Google Firebase and Apple receiving notification identifiers and limited technical information. Content requests create operational hosting logs containing IP addresses, country information and request metadata. See the app privacy policy for the data involved, retention limits and your choices.
This support page is a website page and may be included in the website’s separate visitor counts. Direct app-feed requests and assets are excluded from that counter. Use “Website visitor counts & privacy” in the website footer to review its details or opt out in this browser.
The Android app requires no account. It provides racing information and hypothetical WIN records, and does not accept bets, payments or deposits.
Use the app’s refresh control and check its feed status and timestamps. A saved copy can remain visible when the connection fails.
Saved races stay on this device. Settings → “Clear saved races and offline feed” removes bookmarks and the downloaded feed; it does not clear provider records or alert preferences.
In Settings, enable “New tip alerts”, read the explanation and choose “Agree and enable”. Allow Android notifications when requested, then check the status beneath the switch.
Alerts cover newly published public tips, not final changes or results. Delivery can be delayed or unavailable. The app works with alerts off.
If connection fails, use “Retry alert connection”. Use “Android notification settings” to review the operating-system permission. Return to the app and check its connection status.
Turn off “New tip alerts”. The app requests topic removal and messaging deregistration.
If removal is pending, leave alerts off, reconnect and return to the app so it can retry. This does not confirm deletion of all Firebase records.
Email info@mattywhite.com.au with the Android version, app version, relevant race/date, what you tried and the status shown. Include a screenshot only after removing private information. Do not send passwords or payment information.
See the Android privacy information for optional alerts, provider processing and your choices.
